Your leadership is asking what the AI investment returned. I have had to answer that question myself.
Thirty years running commercial, R&D, manufacturing and IT functions across major blue-chip companies including Novo Nordisk, Novartis, Takeda, Becton Dickinson and Pfizer. Business outcomes ranging from revenue increases to operating cost avoidance to new revenue streams built on technology. Mirai Advisors brings that operator’s judgment to your C-suite, your board, or your investment committee.
The problem
Most technology value in life sciences is lost between the decision and the delivery.
The strategy is rarely the problem. Execution is.
AI pilots appear faster than governance and teams can absorb them — then multiply without ever reaching production, because nothing is integrated end to end. Vendor landscapes sprawl until nobody can name the total cost of ownership, and vendors overpromise, under-deliver and overcharge. Process debt compounds quietly inside clinical development until a submission slips by months, or years. And leadership wants to know which of these investments is earning its cost of capital.
Answering that requires someone who has been accountable for delivering results — not a benchmark deck.
What we do
Six practices, each built on something already delivered.
Board and C-suite advisory
Independent counsel for multinational, PE- and VC-backed leadership teams on technology, data and AI decisions that carry P&L consequence.
Digital and AI transformation
Turning AI and digital investment into earnings rather than pilots — with portfolio governance that reports impact and total cost of ownership straight to the C-suite.
Process intelligence in R&D
Cycle time is the most under-exploited value lever in pharma R&D, and almost nobody is mining it properly.
Data governance, privacy and compliance
Governance that holds up in GxP-regulated, multi-jurisdiction environments — so data is an asset in diligence, not a liability.
Digital health, RWE and analytics
Connected-health capability built at scale, from smart delivery devices to software as a medical device and the platform beneath them.
New ventures and investment diligence
An investor’s read on digital health assets, from someone who has built them, invested in them and exited them.
Where Mirai is most useful
Four situations worth a conversation.
Turnarounds
When people, process, data and technology all need rebuilding at once, under time pressure, and leadership has already lost patience.
Investment diligence and valuation
When a PE or VC firm needs a go-to-market specialist with the industry credibility to drive growth.
Transformation that has stalled
When the strategy is agreed and the budget is committed, but nothing has reached production or produced results.
Executive-level technology oversight
When leadership needs someone who can ask the right questions about AI, data and cyber — and knows what the answers should sound like.
How I work
Mirai Advisors are independent senior operators with demonstrated expertise — not management consulting. Engagements are scoped to a decision or an outcome, not to a headcount. We take on a small number of clients at a time, and we build or rebuild technology that delivers.
About
Stephanie Bova — Founder and Managing Director

I spent thirty years inside the companies my clients are now trying to change.
Most recently Corporate Vice President and Digital Transformation Officer for R&D at Novo Nordisk, where I governed 1,100+ business applications and the AI and automation investment for a global workforce of 1,350 — delivering substantial cost avoidance, building and selling a clinical study control tower to a leading VC-backed data provider, and running the industry’s first end-to-end use of process intelligence in clinical development.
Before that, VP roles at Novartis in Global Drug Development, where I identified $1.5B in incremental risk-adjusted portfolio value; Head of Strategy and Innovation for the Corporate Digital Accelerator at Becton Dickinson; and seven years at Takeda, where I co-founded Takeda Digital Ventures, a $150M fund. I founded OSHI Health and served as its first CEO. Earlier, at Pfizer, I carried P&L accountability for multiple brands in cardiovascular, metabolic and respiratory.
I have also served on the boards of Emilie Scientific, a clinical trial recruitment and retention company later integrated into Takeda R&D, and Gaido Health, a post-discharge remote monitoring business for cancer patients acquired by Biofourmis in 2019. Earlier in my career I was at Deloitte Consulting, working across R&D, M&A, business development, commercial, IT and supply chain.
I hold a BS in International Business and Japanese from the University at Buffalo, an MBA in finance from the University of Maryland, and a cybersecurity leadership certificate from Cornell. I have been named to Pharmaceutical Executive’s Top 40 Under 40 and to MM&M’s Top Healthcare Transformers.
I am a non-executive director at Adragos Pharma and sit on ServiceNow’s Global Advisory Council. I am based between Zurich, Switzerland and New York, NY.
